Village Board promotes APO Christian Mullin to Sergeant
The Amityville Village board voted to promote APO Christian Mullin to the rank of Sergeant tonight. Approving Amityville Village Mayor Dennis Siry's appointment were Trustees Kevin Smith and Tom Whelan. Trustees Jessica Bernius and Nick La Lota abstained with La Lota saying the Siry administration did not advise him of the decision until last Thursday and denied him the opportunity of reviewing Mullin's record, as well as that of two other candidates.
The Mayor did not respond but the the comment brought a wave of moans and angry responses from the nearly 100 Mullin supporters who crowded the Amityville Court to watch the swearing in ceremony.
The night was not to be tainted by dissent, however, as Mullin's family and friends looked on as he was sworn in as Amityville's newest sergeant, applauding and cheering as Village Justice Debra Urbano Di-Salvo administered the oath of office.
